In our rapidly changing world of increasing complexity a paradox emerges: the world has become too complex for thoughtless action, but the world is changing so fast that we cannot afford to overthink our actions. Some teams and organizations have chosen to rush into action without preparation, while others are trapped in an endless loop of analyzing problems that change before insights are gathered.
In an ever evolving world, working towards transformation requires adaptability. Balancing perceptiveness and creative action, adaptability allows us to change with our environments. I seek to foster adaptability in action-reflection, with creative and productive group dialogue designed to become part of standard work process.
My work as an internal facilitator for non-profit organizations focused on challenging service relationships, has helped me prepare for hosting complex conversations filled with conflict. As a licensed counselor I can draw from what I learn in my daily practice of organizing good conversations. From this I design innovative meetings, retreats, conferences and longer-term change process.
Using simple tools I have had success:
Processing vicarious trauma with service staff, processing burnout, and learning ways to protect from chronic and acute mental stress using mindfulness and writing activities.
Finding rich, values-based determination to increase resilience in challenging environments; grounding work in a strong individual and group identity. Integrating emotional support skills within teams, diagraming and planning sustainable work community.
Clarifying purpose and practicing telling a new narrative that shifts internal/external perception. Uncovering innovative pilot actions that can begin the creative transformation process immediately and courageously.
Let’s meet.
